America is the name of a whole continent. United States of America means that the United States belongs to America and NOT that America belongs to the United States. So, next time you want to refer to The United States of America, you can do it as U.S. or the States or whatever you want but not as only America. Gotcha?
Here we will show you some wrong and correct uses of the term America:
Please, note that this page in not about demonyms (gentilics) but about the way to call a country.

Remember, yanks are not Americans. They are better than everybody else in this hemisphere, and are entitled to special treatment from all their neighbors in all international treaties in this hemisphere.
America first is the same as USA first.
That you understand otherwise is your problem.
Tell a Chinese "north Asian" and he/she might get offended.
America is an American word created by English people.
They still deserve the credit for it.
The Aztecan continent was named "America" by Americans in the United Kingdom.
Same Americans that created The United States Of America.
If you are Aztecan then you are not American.
The United Kingdom of America
United Kingdom Of America is not the same as United Kingdom of America.
What the heck is wrong with you.
United Kingdom of America IS United Kingdom Of America.

Hey … Now do you see! I have written/spelt America in every way that I can, and it comes to a total of 128 ways in counting!
Spelling it like this … America … may as well be proper grammar, yes, but it still remains the same word, no matter what way or how you spell it, and will always be referring to the whole NEW WORLD, period!
Beach Boys "California girls"
"And I seen all kind of girls,
Yeah, but I couldn't wait
To get back in the STATES.
Back to the cutest girls
In the world."
And the States are very often called America.
They still are States that are in America. (Yes America, "the country", not the continent). That's their name.
Its because people have followed a conditioning of the wrong name.
If it’s wrong, then so is your precious definition.
So important is the "United States" part of the country's name that is very present in its highest symbol, the flag. The 50 stars represent the number of states that make up the nation currently, and the bars the original thirteen that became independent.
Thanks, Mr. Obvious. And ‘America’ is still known worldwide as one of the names of the USA.
That is due to conditioning! People have been conditioned to use the name of the continent to mean the country, but it is wrong.
If it’s wrong, then your sacred definition is also wrong.
The United States Of America
Where would The united States be if there was no America?
Hey disguised frustrated Stupid David, you do a good job by spamming into several names hahaha.
America is a word already created by Americans in The United Kingdom.
You don't like it, I don't care.
Where would The united States be if there was now America?
