America is the name of a whole continent. United States of America means that the United States belongs to America and NOT that America belongs to the United States. So, next time you want to refer to The United States of America, you can do it as U.S. or the States or whatever you want but not as only America. Gotcha?

everybody knows that you are America already.
Brazil knows that you are America.
China knows that they would forever be America.
The UK, surely knows you are America.
So, there is no more to say.
my country, America. American I am
that is why we are Brazilians, in the new world we are still Brazilians.
Our race, Brazilian too.
For the other hemisphere, we are Brazilians too.
There is only one county bearing the name America.
That country,:
United States Of America.
Like it or not, just one America, no more than one, you stupid idiot, yes you are an idiot.
The name of the country could be written by "U.S. America", always with U.S. forward or "United States" but not just "America"
It can be written as just America. It very often is written as just America. Welcome to reality.
In English "American" also means "of the Americas or the continent of America" as evidenced by the existence of the Organization of AMERICAN States. Therefore the name of the citizens of the United States must be better defined and not left in ambiguity. U-S-American seems to me a very appropriate for it, since United Statian or U-S-ian sounds bad to most of them.
It’s not ambiguous because only one nationality uses the word ‘American’. So, obviously, when nationality is being discussed and ‘American’ is used, it only means one thing—US citizen. The fact that it only means one thing indicates that, by definition, there is no ambiguity. Stop pretending.
Who else is more American than the people Of America?
No one else. That's it.
We do not care what you think.
We are Americans.
anybody else is, from whatever else they are from but they would never be Americans if they are not born in thus country.
American I am, American I would be!
United States Of America
There is only one America and my country bears its name. And that is simply why people call me American.
I am American, from the new hemisphere, the new world.
Yeap, the one America is the continent and the country has copied that name and ran with it.
The name of my country is America, so, American I am.
